The native empirical-memory plugin gives supported coding agents Empirical awareness and MCP integration without generating competing side-loaded Skill files.
What SKILL files do
The native empirical-memory plugin owns core memory guidance. Work History, Scar Tissue, and Todo are separate optional marketplace plugins selected during installation. The CLI remains the source of truth for command reference.
Native plugin ownership
Run empirical install to configure the selected agent, or use empirical plugin install codex|copilot|claude|all with capability flags to install marketplace packages without repeating OAuth setup. Plugin-managed paths can vary by agent and should not be replaced with hand-written EMPIRICAL_SKILL.md files.
Content
The installer updates the selected agent's native plugin registration and stores behavior preferences as server-side policy. It does not generate or overwrite global Empirical instruction blocks. The install questionnaire selects optional marketplace packages.
